Mary Theresa Martuscello, born Mary Theresa O'Brien, peacefully passed away on January 18, 2024, at the age of 93, in Corning, NY. Mary was a selfless, hardworking, and caring woman who always put others first. She was devoted to her family and friends, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Mary was born April 17, 1930, in Elmira, NY, to Thomas and Mary O'Brien. She attended Elmira Catholic High School. She furthered her education at St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Elmira. Mary pursued a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse, working at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC and St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira. However, her greatest joy came from staying home to raise and care for her seven children.
Mary found solace in her faith and was an active member of All Saints Parish in Corning. Her strong belief in God guided her throughout her life. She enjoyed spending her free time crocheting, baking for Sunday evening tea with family, and cherishing moments with her loved ones. Whether it was playing cards, scrabble, or simply being together, Mary treasured every moment spent with family and friends.
Mary is survived by her loving children: Paul (Lela) Martuscello, Marie (Ernie) Spaulding, Ann (Tom) Stummer, Maureen Martuscello, John (Autumn) Martuscello, Theresa (Bruce) Pearson, and Carol (Clive) Howard. She also survived by 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter J. Martuscello.
