Mary Jane Mattern

Mary Jane (Tylinski) Mattern, 87, of New Kensington, passed away on October 31, 2025, at The Seasons of Saxonburg. Born June 10, 1938, in New Kensington, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Martha Tylinski. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Loyd, in 2018. Mary Jane was a 1956 graduate of New Kensington (Ken High) High School and a member of Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington. She attended Citizen's General Hospital School of Nursing. Following graduation, Mary Jane worked at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. She also worked as a nursing supervisor in the maternity ward at Citizen's General Hospital in New Kensington and at Choice Child Care. Mary Jane was an avid reader. Mary Jane is survived by her son, Matthew Scott Mattern, and her daughter, Lisa (Michael) Yeasted, both of New Kensington. She is also survived by a sister, Irene Buhl, of Florida. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Provenzo and Gloria Janicik, and her brother, Matthew Tylinski.

Visitation will be held from 9 AM until time of funeral service at 11 AM Tuesday at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street, Lower Burrell, on followed by a private burial in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
