Mary Mattner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer Funeral Home & Crematory Services on Jan. 15, 2025.
Mary Lou Mattner, born October 11, 1933, in Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, surrounded by her daughters. Against great odds and in challenging times, Mary Lou ran the family campground at Jackson Park, became a nurse, worked numerous demanding jobs, and did all of this with abundant love. She was known for her kindness, resilience, and generosity. Mary Lou embraced life fully and dedicated herself to nursing, caring for others with deep compassion and unwavering kindness.
Mary Lou raised four children, fostered several infants, and welcomed everyone she met as family. She ran the family campground at Jackson Park, where she met the love of her life, Gerald "Jerry" Mattner. They married on July 12, 1987, blending their families and sharing 18 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, grandchildren, and cherished family trips to Colorado.
Mary Lou is survived by her beloved children, Tamara (Bernard) Brever, Daniel James (Carrie) Vogelman, Kathleen (Gayle) Shenkenberg, and Steven (Sharon) Vogelman; stepchildren Lori Mattner and Mike (Shannon) Mattner; grandchildren Zachary (Noel) Brever, Tia (Jesse) Koehler, Anna (Chad) Lemerond, Suzanne (Michael) Albrecht, Katie Vogelman, Kelly Mattner, Rudy Fumich, Jade Mattner, Mason Mattner, Bryce Trafford, Joe (Adan) Neman-Cerrera, Dave, Brenda, Tara, and Alyssa Prochnow, and many others she lovingly called her own. She also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, amazing friends, and her cherished church family.
Mary Lou's unwavering love, selflessness, and indomitable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy reminds us to give generously, love deeply, and find joy in life's simplest moments.
A visitation will be held on April 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM at Brookfield United Church of Christ, 16350 Gebhardt Rd, Brookfield, WI 53005.
