Mary Frances McClellan

Mary Frances McClellan, age 97 of Marietta, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025. Funeral service will be 1 PM Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta with Pastor Keith Stell officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery in Atlanta.

Mary Frances was born to Manuel and Alda Cook, the 7th child out of 10 siblings, and the last one to leave this earth. She always loved sharing stories about her siblings and their childhood. Mary Frances worked for over 30 years at Westinghouse in Atlanta, Georgia. She wound coil on very large motors and was very dedicated to her job. She was chosen to work on one of the largest motors made that was used to control a dam Canada. She has a passion for restoring old furniture and would often find old chairs and such to refurbish and make them her own. She loved to save a penny, and on most days, after she retired you could always find her at what she liked to call "the cheap store".

Mary Frances was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Marietta for over 30 years. She was very active in her Senior Community and liked to travel and sing with her senior group "Melody Makers". She cherished her family deeply and welcomed everyone with an open heart. The holidays were always a place for family gathering at her home.

Other than her parents, Mary Frances is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Robert McClellan, and sons-in-laws James Durham and Mike Mears. She is survived by daughters Rene Durham and Marilyn Mears; step-son Robert McClellan; grandchildren Monica Durham, Corinne Mears, David McClellan, and Randall McClellan; great-grandchildren Kayla Haney (Anthony), Brandon Butler, Katie McClellan, Conner McClellan. Daven McClellan, Carlone McClellan and Ian McClellan; great-great grandchildren Dawson Haney and Etta Frances Butler.

The family will receive friends at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta on Tuesday before the service from 11 until 1 PM.
