Mary Magdalene McCurry

Mary Magdalene Russ McCurry, age 78, of Pine Bluff went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2026. She was born August 25, 1947 in Pine Bluff to the late Earnest Edward Russ and Delcie Elnora Landers Russ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Douglas McCurry, whom she married August 2, 1968 and her loving son Charles Russ McCurry. She was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and the University of Arkansas. She worked in finance in the banking industry for many years until her retirement. She was also heavily involved with the Rison Wildcat Band, where she served as a bus driver and worked the concession stand at ball games. She also ran the Wildcat Hangout, where the students meant the world to her and was a mother figure to many. She was a member of Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Douglas McCurry, her daughter Charlene Freeman (Murry), her grandchildren Walt (Brittany), and Molly (Easton) and four great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Arkansas Hospice, especially to Frances McDaniel and Paula Topping for their exceptional care to Mrs. McCurry.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Buie & Cole Funeral Home in Rison, with Bro. Gary Lambright officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
