Mary Lou McLester, age 90, of Snellville, GA passed away January 2, 2024.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Charles Frederick "Fred" McLester; her son Michael Frederick McLester; and her parents Horace Woolson and Agnes Smith Woolson.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Shannon Chamberlin; son-in-law Jim Chamberlin; grandchildren Rachel & Tim Monroe, Sara & Kyle Massey, and Derek Chamberlin; great-grandchildren Will & Maggie Monroe, Jake, Ava, & Claire Massey; her sister Roberta Stephens; and her niece Kim Purciful.
Mary Lou was born in Bay Shore, New York and moved to Florida with her family in 1946. She graduated from Lake Worth High School where she was on the swim team.
After marrying Fred, they moved to Melbourne, FL. Over the years, Mary Lou worked for Radiation and Brevard Anesthesia Services. They moved to Gwinnett County after Fred's retirement to be close to their grandchildren who were the light of their lives. Mary Lou worked for Atlanta Allergy & Asthma prior to her retirement. After retiring, she spent many years volunteering as a Stephens Minister at St. John Neumann Catholic Church and as a reading mentor to students at Lilburn Middle School. She was a member of the St. John Neumann Choir, Theresians, and was one of the original members of the Women's Catholic Bible Study. She was a tireless advocate for her son, Michael, and loved her family fiercely.
The funeral Mass to celebrate Mary Lou's life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 801 Tom Smith Road, Lilburn, GA and a reception will held in the parish hall immediately following the Mass.
