Mary Meyer Obituary

Mary pursued a degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland, which paved the way for her lifelong commitment to care. Her career was marked by her roles as a Visiting Nurse and her many years of service in the Peace Corps.
Mary's love for reading and her deep appreciation for history were only matched by her enjoyment of the seashore. She enjoyed participating in her book club and took great pleasure in needlework, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her meticulous and artistic nature.
A beloved sister and aunt, Mary is survived by her sister, Patricia Meyer Pittarelli, and her niece and nephews, Maria Helena, George Joseph, and Paul Ernest Pittarelli. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Jesse Meyer.
Mary's life was a testament to her kindness, generosity, and the profound impact she had on those around her. Her legacy of love and service will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's memory can be made to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County (P.O. Box 3471, Annapolis, MD 21403 or online here), where she adopted her two cats, Cali and Oscar.
Friends and family are invited to honor Mary's life on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 11 am until her funeral service begins at 12 noon at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD.

Mary was kind, hardworking and dedicated to her job and colleagues. She was a fine teammate and will be missed at the Peace Corps. I used to enjoy her sudden conversations about Oscar or Maria, Paul, and George when we would ease into broader conversations in a friendly, regular way. I offer my sympathy to her family and entire community.
