Amana - Mary Susanna Moser was born October 9, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Paul and Marjorie (Buresh) Pelzer. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1980 and received her floriculture degree from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. On August 22, 1987, Mary was united in marriage to Maury Lee Moser at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tipton. She most recently worked in the accounts payable department for the Clear Creek Amana School District.
Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford. Her Catholic faith was the bedrock for all other aspects of her life. She enjoyed learning more about the faith and exploring its rich history and traditions. When tough times hit, people knew they could count on her for prayers, a source of quiet strength and unwavering support.
Mary enjoyed shopping, especially for shoes and purses. She was a creative soul and had more ideas than time and energy to fulfill. Mary shared treasured family recipes with others and always provided the best appetizers at family gatherings. It was a high priority of Mary’s to spend her free time with her two grandsons. She loved pulling the boys onto her lap and reading them stories. Mary died on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at her home in Amana, at the age of 63.
She is survived by her husband, Maury of Amana; a daughter, Sarah (Nick) Leidigh of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Luke and Owen; sisters, Nanette (Wayne) Behrens and Peggy (Mike) Murphy; and brothers, Jim (Mary) Pelzer, Tom (Brenda) Pelzer, Ed (Molly) Pelzer, Joe Pelzer, John (Cindy) Pelzer; a brother-in-law Galen (Linda) Moser; and a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
