Mary Edith Owenby, age 80, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025.
Mary was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, a place that always held a special place in her heart. Though she made her home in Texarkana, she carried with her the warmth, kindness, and deep family ties of her Tennessee roots.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Robert Owenby, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories.
Mary is survived by her sons, Brian Owenby and wife Melinda of Texarkana, Texas, and Michael Owenby of Gray, Tennessee; her granddaughters, Taylor Owenby of Texarkana, Texas, and Mia Owenby of Fouke, Arkansas; as well as many loving family members in Tennessee and countless dear friends in the Texarkana area.
A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Mary was a faithful member of Red Lick First United Methodist Church, where her beautiful singing voice often filled the sanctuary and lifted the hearts of those around her. Known for her musical talent, Mary's voice could blend or soar in a way that made everyone sound better-a gift she shared generously.
She was also known for her warm hospitality and her famous spaghetti, a family favorite that brought everyone to the table. A proud supporter of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, Mary rarely missed a game and cheered on her team with enthusiasm. In quieter moments, she loved cross-stitching, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her patience and care.
More than anything, Mary cherished time spent with her family and friends. Her laughter, kindness, and steadfast love will be remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at Cornerstone MRC on November 8, 2025, at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary's memory to Red Lick First United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
Her faith, love, and joy will continue to echo in the hearts of all those she touched.
