Obituary of Mary F. Panagiotopoulos
Panagiotopoulos, Mary F.
(nee Paputsas)
Age 89, a lifelong Joliet area resident, passed peacefully, Sunday May 5, 2024 at Lightways Hospice Home with her family at her side.
Mary was born in Joliet on June 3, 1934, the daughter of Anastasia and John Paputsas. She was a Graduate of Joliet Central High School.
Preceded in death by her parents and dearest sister, Catherine (Gerald) Polykandriotis.
Survived by her daughter, Anastasia "Stacy" Panagiotopoulos of Joliet; son, Theodore Panagiotopoulos of Tampa, FL; grandchildren Katie and Stelios Panagiotopoulos both of Tampa, FL, and her nephew, Nick (Kateri) Polykandriotis of Joliet.
A life member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Mary was active in the Mykonos Society and Philoptochos Society. She was a seamstress for many years at the Golden Needle in Joliet. Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and volunteering at church functions.
A special thank you to Mary's dear and close friend, Louise Piotis for always being there to help Mary and the family whenever the need arose.
Funeral Services for Mary F. Panagiotopoulos will be Friday May 10, 2024 at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway Street in Joliet. Visitation will be held at church from 10:00 a.m. until her services begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway Street, Joliet, IL 60435 would be appreciated.
