She attained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama Birmingham.
Mary was a founding member of Grace Baptist Church in Somerset, KY. She enjoyed teaching Bible study, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, M. D. Clayton, Jr, M.D. & Dorothy Elizabeth Wadsworth Clayton; her brothers, Dexter Clayton, M.D., Stephen Clayton; and her sister, Elizabeth Anne Clayton.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James William "Bill" Parker, M.D. of Somerset, KY; her son, Jay Parker (Kelley) of Seattle, WA; her daughter, Carrie Vail (Don), of Simpsonville, KY; her grandchildren, Will Parker, Amber Vail, Ashlee Vail, Sam Parker, and Levi Vail.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Grace Baptist Church in Somerset, KY. Shannon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or Norton's Children's Hospital.
