MARY ANN PRESTON

Mary Ann Preston, 78, of Piqua passed away at 3:08 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2025, at her residence. She was born on June 6, 1947, in Portsmouth to the late Alva and Evelyn (Pertuset) Houchen. She married Lowell T. Preston on July 10, 1976, in Troy, who survives.

Other survivors include her son, Matt (Michelle) Preston of Blissfield, MI and three grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, and Jack. Mary was preceded in death by sister Donna Sykes.

Mary was an elementary teacher who taught 30 years in the Piqua school system before retiring in 1998. She attended four years at the Miami (OH) University and two years at the University of Dayton which she graduated in 1987 with her master's degree. She also worked for the Hallmark card shop, was a past member of the P.E.A. in Piqua and a member of the YWCA. She also volunteered with Piqua Compassion Network and the gift shop at Upper Valley Medical Center. Mary taught Sunday school and worked in many ways for the Troy Freewill Baptist Church, of which she was a member.

Services for Mary will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
