Mary Alice Reding
Mary Alice (Coffey) Reding, 97 of Aubrey passed away peacefully May 13, 2024 in her home. She was born July 29, 1926 to Homer and Lillie-Kate (McIntosh) Coffey in Aubrey.
In 1943 Mary Alice graduated from Aubrey High School and went on to attend North Texas State Teachers College (University of North Texas) where she received a degree in business in 1947.
On January 4, 1947, she married William Harold (Bill) Reding at her parents' home. Mary Alice returned to UNT for work in the Business Office in 1959 where she would work until her retirement in 1988.
Mary Alice was a lifelong member of the Aubrey First Christian Church. Over her lifetime she served and volunteered in many service positions. She was on the Board of Directors for Belew Cemetery for over 40 years, retiring in her 90's. In addition, she was a member of the Ladies Fire Auxiliary of Aubrey, Denton County Historical Society, Aubrey Historical Society, and American Business Women Association.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents Homer & Lillie-Kate Coffey, husband Bill, daughter Rebecca, her sister Ruth Newton and Ruth's daughter Natalie.
She leaves behind a daughter, Jean Burk of Aubrey, Grandchildren, David Millican (Angela) of Sanger, Kristi Millican of Frisco, Matthew Burk (Rose) of Aubrey, and Bill Wright of Aubrey. Eight great-grandchildren Mahaley, Allie, Joshua, Ashley, Christopher Riley, Jacob, Harmony, and Stephen and two great-great grandchildren Louis and Leah.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers, Nathan Newton, Nick Newton, Nora Ellen (Newton) Wheeler, Norman Newton, and Nelson Newton.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, at 1:00 at the Coffey Building at 408 N. Main St. in Aubrey, Texas. Funeral service will follow visitation at 2:00 next door at the First Christian Church, with Rev Sara Beckham officiating. Burial will take place at Belew Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Belew Cemetery Association Inc, P.O. Box 398, Aubrey, Texas 76227 or The Shepherd's Storehouse, P.O Box 826, Pilot Point, TX 76258 or your local foodbank.
