Melba Doreen Jones

Melba Doreen Jones, 93, of Collinsville, TX, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2023 in Aubrey, TX. Melba was born January 11, 1930 in Celina, TX to Herman Fredrick and Dora Etta (Sanders) Johnson. She married Elbert Dee Jones on December 22, 1967.
Melba was a graduate of Aubrey High School. She worked for the Aubrey ISD for twenty years. She was a charter member of the Aubrey Assembly of God from 1945 until present. Melba served on the Aubrey City Council and was a long-time member of the Belew Cemetery Association.
She loved to sew and care for her home and kids. She enjoyed the outside life, especially gardening and camping.
Melba is survived by her two daughters, Carol Lynn Bruce-Blood of Collinsville, TX and Doris Gulledge and husband Rick of Aubrey, TX; granddaughter, Staci Lynn Carter and great-grandson Ethan Lee Carter of Collinsville, TX and many more grandchildren; step-son, Jerry Dale Jones of Denton, TX; step-daughter, Judy Darlene Jones Fairchild and husband Jeff of Corinth, TX; brother, J. R. Johnson and wife Pearlene of Aubrey, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Dora; husband, Elbert; son, Connie Glen Bruce; brother, H. F. Johnson; three sisters, LaNora Johnson, Evelyn Hopper, and Fern Melton; and son-in-law, Roy Blood.
Visitation will be held 10:00AM-11:00AM, Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX and the funeral service will begin at 11:00AM with Rev. Gene King officiating.
