Eliot-Mary Ann Rogers passed away peacefully in Wells, Maine at Avita of Wells following a period of Alzheimer's disease and failing health. She passed peacefully on July 30, 2024.
Born in Adams, Massachusetts on November 5, 1937, Mary Ann is preceded by her beloved husband of 60-years, Paul (PJ), sister Margie Beavers and sister-in-law Betty Dusseault. Her surviving family are Steve and Rosalind White of Shreveport, LA (with whom she reunited five years ago after 57 years); Matt and Michelle Rogers of Nottingham, NH; Steven and Lori Rogers of Wells, ME; David and Carla Rogers of Portsmouth, NH; John and Daniele Rogers of North Berwick, ME; Sarah and Jason McCluskey of Dover, England; sister-in-law Jean Odiorne of Portsmouth, NH and brother-in-law Clarence Beavers of Richmond, TX. Mary Ann had twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren all of whom she adored.
In the early 1940's Mary Ann's family moved to Daniel Street in Portsmouth, NH and ultimately to Eliot, ME where she grew up just a short bicycle ride down the street from Paul. Mary Ann graduated Eliot High School in 1955 and became a Registered Nurse after graduating from the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing (Boston, MA) in 1958. She served as a registered nurse from 1958 until she married Paul in 1960. From 1961 through 1970, Mary Ann was a most excellent homemaker until 1979 when she became a School Nurse at Central School in South Berwick Maine, serving in that role until her retirement in 1999. She has a legacy of former students and families who have known and loved her over the twenty years that she served the school system.
Mary Ann enjoyed her home on Fore Road with her pool and beautiful flower gardens while knitting and preserving memories in her scrapbooks. She cherished her husband, children and grandchildren, loved music, loved to travel and joked about how much she spent her children's inheritance on visiting places like England, Poland, Alaska and the US National Parks.
Mary Ann was a proud member of the Alcoholics Anonymous family and enjoyed 39 years of sobriety.
During the last years of her life, Mary Ann was a beloved member of the Avita family where she was cared for by the exceptional staff and care-givers in her Summer Neighborhood. The Rogers' family is eternally grateful to this outstanding Memory Care Assisted Living Facility.
