Mary Josephine Rook, age 85, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Center.
Mary was born on September 10, 1939, in East Alton, Illinois, to the late William Thad and Pauline (Treat) Fife. She was united in marriage to the late Leland E. Rook on December 20, 1959, in Jefferson City, Missouri.
A dedicated homemaker, Mary also spent several years as a teacher's aide in Glasgow, Missouri, where she retired. She was passionate about her community and devoted countless hours to volunteering. Mary served on the state board for the Girl Scouts and gave her time generously to the Boy Scouts and the local library in Glasgow.
She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey E. Rook (Karla) of Centertown and their children Bethany Masuch (Daniel) and Kristin Rook; Christopher A. Rook (Denise) of Florida, and their son Chase Rook and Andrew F. Rook (Michele) of Glasgow, and their children Taylor Rook (Thalita) and Zachary Rook; and great-grandson, Leo Ray Masuch. She is also survived by her sister, Leta Hunt (Don) of Peoria, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Howard "Sandy" Houghton, II and Kenneth Rook (Gail); sister-in-law, Patty Hoppock (David) plus several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leland E. Rook; her parents, William Thad and Pauline (Treat) Fife; her son, Jason P. Rook; her brothers, J.T. Fife and William L. Fife; and her sister, Barbara Houghton.
Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with services following at 3:00 p.m.
