Lafayette: Mary Louise Sampey, a Sunset, Louisiana native, was born on August 30, 1961, to the late Milton Minix and Melvola Hawkins. Mary Louise grew up in the sunset and then moved to Carencro, where she married and reared a family with her late husband, Joseph Sampey Jr.
Mary and Joseph Sampey Jr. raised their family with strong Christian principles. They both actively participated in their church communities. Mary was a devout prayer warrior who was frequently sought out by family and friends for her advice and counsel.
Mary was well-known for her contagious personality. She felt immense delight in presenting herself as a masterpiece. She demanded that she always looked lovely and well-groomed.
Mary was a happy person who never met a stranger; she has the ability to make everyone feel cherished and heard. Mary's extroverted nature was a valuable advantage in her job. She spent the most of her career working in food service for the Lafayette Parish School System. She then chose to share her compassionate personality with residents of the senior community through her work with Beyond Caregiving.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Milton and Melvola Hawkins Minix, Husband Joseph Sampey Jr.; Five brothers Merlin, Alton, Joseph Retell, James and Joseph Milton Minix Two sisters; Mary Magdalene Minix and Barbara Minix Walker, Two sons ; Brad Sampey and William Minix ;and one daughter Chelsea Sampey.
Mary now leaves behind to cherish her memories - 3 sons; Erick Minix, Hilton Sampey, and Corey Sampey. One daughter Sasha Minix (Richard) 20 Grand Children six sisters, Helen Gabriel, Millie Henry (Xavier), Velma Minix, Hazel Minix, Betty Lewis (Charles), and Rosemary Mamie Minix; two brothers - Joseph Dale Minix (Annette), and Decon Cody Miller ( Cindy); and a host nieces and nephews, and cherished family and friends.
