Mrs. Mary Evelyn Sings, age 83, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at her home. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Westfield Creek Baptist Church by Pastor Jason Pope and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

Mrs. Sings was born April 5, 1941 in Kannapolis, NC, a daughter of the late Archiebald Bass and Hester Mae Teal Bass. Evelyn graduated from A.L. Brown High School and was a former employee of the Chesterfield Webbing Mill. She was a devoted Christian lady and a faithful member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Sings deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn admired her grandchildren so much that she would do anything for them.

Mrs. Sings had many admirable talents including her excellent cooking and crafting skills. She could often be found sewing or watching her favorite shows, “Gunsmoke” and “Bonanza.” One of Evelyn’s greatest passions was traveling and she took pride in having the opportunity to see almost all of the states. She enjoyed and cherished every minute of her trips, even when she was just riding in the car.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Mr. James Maynard Sings; and her sister-in-law, Thalia Sings Sellers.

Survivors include her sons, Ricky Sings of the home, and Mark (Vicki) Sings of Lake City, SC; grandchildren, Christian (Justin) Bazen of Florence, SC, Madison Sings of Timmonsville, SC, Brianna Sings of the home, Tate (Zachary) Owens of Elgin, SC, and McKenna Cook of Lake City, SC; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Bazen, Alvin Bazen, and Sutton Owens; brother, Don (Candy) Bass; sister, Sylvia (Gary) Ritchie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Westfield Creek Baptist Church, 316 Westfield Church Road, Cheraw, SC 29520.
