She was born on June 5, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan. Beloved wife of the late Russell Wm Smith. Loving mother of Bradly, Kern, Craig, and the late Karen Smith. Proud grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of ten.
Mary Lou worked as a Registered Nurse at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak for over 20 years. Virtually her entire career was spent on the Labor and Delivery floor. Mary Lou was an avid traveler and adored experiencing different cultures and cuisines. She had fear of nothing, embracing life to the fullest, enjoying roller coasters, zip-lining, flying and more. She adored adventure.
Closer to home, Mary Lou loved gardening, reading, birdwatching and cooking. She appreciated spending time at the Madison Heights Senior Center where she took pleasure in various activities and the company of others. She shared her wisdom and wit with all she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A private family service will be held at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan.
