Mary “Louise” Smith, age 83, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025 at her home in Courtland, MS.
Funeral services for Louise will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the New Hope Church of God with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Louise was born on May 24, 1942 to the late Grady and Mary Ella Goodnight Moore in Quitman County, Mississippi.
A beloved figure in her community, Louise was best known for her dedicated service as the cafeteria manager at South Panola High School, a position she held with pride until her retirement. Through her work, she nourished not only the bodies of countless students but also their spirits, exemplifying her commitment to the well-being of those around her.
Louise was a devoted member of the New Hope Church of God, where she nurtured her faith and formed lasting relationships with her fellow church family members. She loved sewing and took great joy in cooking, particularly for her family.
The family she leaves behind includes her husband, Cecil Ray Smith of Courtland, MS; her three children, Dennis Smith (Judy) of Courtland, MS, Lisa Cagle (Terry) of Batesville, MS, and Kenneth W. Smith (Lisa) of Pope, MS; two sisters, Linda Schifer and Bonnie Beaver both of Cleveland, MS; three brothers, Eugene Moore of Senatobia, MS, Grady Moore, Jr. of Lambert, MS, and Zeke Moore of North Carolina; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
