Mary Ann Spence age 87 of Lewis, Kansas passed away peacefully at Edwards County Medical Center on Friday September 26th, 2025. Mary was born on July 6th, 1938, in Great Bend, Kansas to Charles H. “Sam” and Clara VanDanacker Wonsetler.
On September 27th, 1958, Mary Married David A Spence at 8:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned, KS. To this union they had three daughters Kyle, Kimberly, and Jill. Since they were married, they have been residents of Lewis, KS. Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing in the bell choir. She loved being around people and worked as a loan officer at Home State Bank of Lewis for 28 years. She was a proud mom and grandma who loved attending her kids and grandkids activities. She enjoyed golfing, cards, board games, crafting, and most of all spending time with family and friends. Her smile could light up the room.
Survivors include; husband David of the home, three daughters, Kyle (Scott) Sparke Lewis, KS, Kimberly (Greg) Hoffman Lindsborg, KS., and Jill (Rodney) Habiger, Kinsley, KS. Four grandchildren, Ryan (Maggie) Sparke Lawrence, KS, Eric Sparke Kinsley, KS., Alex (DeAnna) Habiger Kinsley, KS., and Alisen (Louis) Betzen Colwich, KS. Eight great-grandchildren, Cleo and Philli Sparke, Logan Sparke, Everleigh Habiger (twin boys arriving in January), Lucy, Samuel, Josie, and Lennie Betzen. One Brother in law Kenneth Roach, Great Bend, KS and one sister in law Marjorie Spence Rozel, KS.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Charles “Sam” and Clara Wonsetler, two brothers, Remigius “Bud” and Joane Wonsetler and Charles and Josephine Wonsetler. One sister, Charlene Williams.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the United Methodist Church in Lewis, KS. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, at McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley.
Memorials are suggested to the Edwards County Healthcare Foundation or to Edwards County E.M.S. in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley.
