Mary Gwendolyn (Coffin) Steele, 101, of Allentown, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, at Luther Crest – Allentown. She was the wife of the late Donald L. Steele. Born in Irvington, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Annie V. (Thomas) Coffin.

Gwen earned her degree as a registered nurse in 1944 from the Jersey City Medical Center. After raising her children she worked for over 20 years as a registered nurse at Cedarbrook Nursing Home. She retired in 1985 as Assistant to the Director of Nursing. Gwen loved golfing, was an avid reader and travelled with her husband. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Gwen was also a member of First Presbyterian Church- Allentown.

Gwen's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gwen's kind, loving nature and her wonderful sense of humor will surely be missed.

Gwen is survived by her sons Donald L., Jr., husband of Virginia, of Coplay, Leigh E., husband of Cynthia, of South Whitehall Twp.; grandchildren Donald L., III., husband of Jennifer, of Laurys Station, Michelle, wife of Jerry Booths, of Lehighton, Leigh E., Jr. , husband of Monika, of Perkasie and step granddaughter Tiffany, wife of Christopher Beahm, of New Tripoli. Gwen is also survived by 7 great grandchildren: Ashley, Erica, Wyatt, Cole, Liem, Peyton and Brody, and one step great grandchild, Wyatt.

Gwen is preceded in death by her 2 brothers and sister, and also by her granddaughter Deborah Steele.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gwen's memory to St. Luke's Hospice c/o Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St. Allentown, PA 18102.
