Mary Ann Steffen, a beloved matriarch with a heart of gold, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at the age of 96. She was born on August 2, 1928, to Odelia and Frank Jay in Maybee, Michigan. Mary Ann was a vibrant, outgoing woman who never met a stranger. She brought joy and warmth to everyone she encountered, a testament to her genuine, compassionate nature. She married the love of her life, Edward Steffen, in 1977 after meeting through mutual friends. Together, they enjoyed many happy years filled with laughter, family gatherings, and their shared love for the outdoors. Mary Ann was a woman of many passions, from gardening and solving puzzles to hosting holiday celebrations and spending quality time with her loved ones. She took great pride in being a supportive presence for her family, always ready to babysit, lend a helping hand, or offer words of encouragement. She cherished her role as a caretaker and embraced her title of Grandma with joy and pride. She is survived by her children: Jacqueline Hein, Donna (Ken) Teska, James Steffen, and Lisa (Philip) LoDolce; her grandchildren: John (Liz) Hein, Melanie Hein, Michael (Andrea) Teska, David (Kelly) Teska, Timothy (Krystal) Steffen, Karlie Hauert, and Grace (Michael) Barnes; 11 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will deeply feel the loss of her warmth and kindness. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, and her two cherished grandchildren, Tom Teska and Jeremy LoDolce. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday, January 27, 2025, from noon until a service at 1 PM at the funeral home, with burial at Mount Emblem Cemetery to follow. Mary Anns legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
