Mary Ellen Sztorc passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on January 17, 1931, in Whiteville, Tennessee. Mary later married Victor F. Sztorc, and together they moved to California, where they built a life rooted in love, faith, and service to others.
Mary and Victor adopted five children – Edward Sztorc, Theresa Sztorc, Elizabeth Rich, Elaine Sztorc, and Paul Sztorc – whom she devotedly raised while also pursuing her own education. She graduated with honors from California State University, Bakersfield, and was a member of the first graduating class of its master's program, an achievement she earned while balancing family life.
A gifted and compassionate educator, Mary was widely admired for her teaching abilities and her deep love for children. She taught for 13 years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School and for an additional 20 years at Richland Elementary, touching countless lives through her patience, kindness, and dedication.
Mary poured love into everyone she met. She deeply cherished her 72-year marriage to Victor and took great joy in her family. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary will be remembered for her generosity of spirit and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
