Mary Beth (Edwards) Tanfield, 69, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Covington Twp., passed away on Sunday following a heroic battle with ovarian cancer.
Born in Scranton on May 1, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ann (Fox) Edwards. Mary Beth was a graduate of North Pocono High School and later went on to earn a degree in business management, graduating cum laude from Luzerne County Community College.
Prior to her retirement as purchasing manager, Mary Beth spent 40 years building her career at Gertrude Hawk Chocolates. In addition, she devoted over a decade to coaching cheerleading for North Pocono Junior Football.
Mary Beth is survived by her husband, Thomas Tanfield, with whom she would have celebrated a 50th anniversary in October; her daughter, Sarah Tanfield; and her granddaughter, Jadyn, all of Venice, Fla.; her sister, Paulette Fotta (Thomas) of Covington Twp.; her brothers, Thomas Edwards of Winter Haven, Fla. and Daniel Edwards (Pamela) of Moscow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 21, at 1 p.m. at Duffy & Snowdon Funeral Home, 401 Church St., Moscow.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Mary Beth's memory may be made to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, ocrahope.org.
