Mary (Teece) Compton, age 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, affectionately known for her vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
Teece was a devoted mother, sister, mamaw, aunt, and friend, who embraced life with unwavering love and a touch of sass. Her time was often filled with cherished moments spent reading her Bible, enjoying the laughter and joy of her grandchildren, and indulging in her passion for crime shows and movies. A true adventurer at heart, she found her favorite escapes at the beach, where the waves matched her exuberant personality. Teece's forthrightness and candid nature made her presence unforgettable, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on August 26, 1949, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, Teece was the beloved daughter of Robert and Helen (Goodin) Goodwin. She rejoiced in the memories shared with her family but was preceded in death by her cherished sisters, Jean, Faye, Joanie, and her beloved grandson, Curtis.
Teece is survived by her devoted daughter, Jeanette (Brian) Compton; her loving sons, Timothy (Shannon) Compton and Lawrence (Sandy) Compton; and her treasured siblings, Jewel, Ray, and Lisa, as well as her brothers, Wayne, Bobby, Van, Danny, Dale, and Chris. The legacy of her love continues through her grandchildren—Courtney, Tyler, Grant, Destinie, Ashley, Timmy (Bubbas) (Shawntrice), Travis (Amy), Dylan, and Raelyn—along with her adored great-granddaughters: Nora, Parker, Zakaya, Elsie, and great-grandsons: Caden, Layne, Nolan, Beckham, and Isaiah. Teece’s circle of love also extends to numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will hold her memory forever close.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Teece’s life on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – Southwest Louisville Chapel. Following the visitation, a heartfelt entombment service will take place at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
In the spirit of remembrance, we encourage those whose lives were touched by Teece to share their memories and messages in the guestbook below. May her love and laughter continue to inspire us all.
