Mary Thompson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Mary Lee Thompson entered eternal rest on August 9, 2025 at Hackensack Medical Center. She was born on May 30, 1942, in Kershaw County, South Carolina to Deacon Willie Jesse and Emma Shaw.
Mary was raised in a Christian home and attended Bible classes once a week. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Red Hill Baptist Church. She was an usher and assistant teacher for the primary Sunday School class. She was educated in the Kershaw County Public School System and graduated from Jackson High School of Camden, South Carolina. After relocating from South Carolina to Hackensack, New Jersey Mary joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in 1963.
Mary was joined in holy matrimony to the late Abraham Thompson Jr. on September 7, 1965. Their union was blessed with two children, Timothy Thompson (Mia) and Kimberly Loney (Edmond). Later in life, Mary would go on to serve in the military reserve and also become a Registered Nurse.
Mary was a kind and giving person. Her first thoughts were always about how she could help someone else before herself. She also loved sewing. She would spend her free time sewing clothing for her children and family. As a hobby, she would also design and create different pieces and display them on different sizes of figurines.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Abraham Thompson Jr.; parents, Willie Jesse and Emma Shaw; two brothers, Roosevelt Shaw, Willie Shaw; three sisters, Margie DuBose, Mozelle Shaw, Rosetta Shaw; and other loved sisters/brothers in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews whom she'll reunite with in Heaven.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Timothy (Mia) Thompson of Morrow, GA, Kimberly (Edmond) Loney (Precious Thompson, [daughter-deceased]) of Lodi, NJ; one sister, Anne B (Shelia) DuBose of Hackensack, NJ; one brother, Ralph (Pam) Shaw of Teaneck NJ; one brother-in-law, Alexander DuBose; one sister-in-law, Lillie Thompson; one grandson, Xavier(Maiya) Thompson of Decatur, GA; one granddaughter, Lyle (AJ) Gray of Hyattsville, MD and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
