Mary Jane Trant "Doojie", a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devout Catholic, passed away peacefully on September 8 at the age of 85 in Mishawaka, Indiana. Born on May 4, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Doojie lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to her family.
Doojie married the love of her life, Jack, on August 5th,1961 and together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a family that became her greatest joy and legacy. She was a devoted mother to her three children, Bruce, Brian, and Heather-who were her pride and joy. As a grandmother to nine: Christopher, Connor, Caroline, Catherine, Collin, Riley, Jack, Liam, and Kiera-"Gaga" found the true highlight of her life. Her role as a great-grandmother, to Levi and Caleb brought her even more happiness, as she cherished every moment spent with her expanding family.
Doojie was a woman of deep faith, and her Catholic religion was a cornerstone of her life. She was very close to God and lived her life according to the principles of her faith, imparting these values to her family.
A proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Elementary Education, she briefly pursued her passion for teaching on Long Island, New York, before dedicating herself entirely to her family. To Doojie, family meant everything. She was the heart of her household, always ensuring that love, kindness, and faith were at the center of everything they did.
Doojie's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her family that will continue to inspire those she touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Friday, September 13th,at 11 a.m. with Visitation beginning at 9 a.m.
Eventual interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Doojie's memory to Christ Child Society.
May she rest in eternal peace.
