Mary Louise Kos Tuohy, age 86, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, surrounded by her children.
Mary was born on December 6, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Adolph Martin Kos and Margaret Helen Maloney.
She was previously married to Thomas Edward Tuohy, and together they had three children. In her later years, she found love and companionship with Steven Behr, who brought her much joy.
Mary was a woman of deep Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church. She was known for her kindness, her resilience, and her sense of humor, even in the most challenging times. Her interests included reading, spending time with her dog Wiley, keeping up with the news, and enjoying a good Netflix series. Above all, she valued time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her children: Kathryn Elaine Tuohy (Gregory Rochford), Erin Louise Tuohy, and Matthew Allen Tuohy (Angela Wilson); her grandchildren: Brian Timothy Rochford (Tara Deal), Adam Bryce Rochford, Evan Wilson Tuohy, and Ian Matthew Tuohy; and her great-grandchildren: Marie Frances Rochford and Claire Elaine Rochford. She is also survived by her best friend of over 50 years, Margaret Ann McGinley Trier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph Martin Kos and Margaret Helen Maloney; her siblings: John Anthony Kos, Reverend Joseph Stanley Kos, and Margaret Ann Kos (Richard McAllister); and her beloved companion, Steven Behr.
In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to St. Vincent dePaul-Indianapolis online or envelopes will be available at the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, located at 335 South Meridian Street, Greenwood, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. After the service, the Rite of Committal will take place at Calvary Cemetery, 435 West Troy Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana.
