Mary Maher Watson, of Binghamton died on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the age of 99 at Elizabeth Church Manor. Mary was born on August 14, 1923 to the late William F. and Martha M. Maher. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas E. Watson in 1995 and her son, Thomas P. Watson in 2015. Also predeceasing Mary were her brothers, William P.; Thomas F.; Joseph J. Maher and her sister Joan L. Maher. Mary is survived by her daughter, Martha and her son Kevin; her sister Kathleen Maher Foley; her brother John Peter Maher and many nieces and nephews. Mary was a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy and Wilson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a nurse. Mary was an excellent cook and baker. She was a talented seamstress. She knitted, crocheted, did the daily crossword puzzle, was an avid reader, and loved Irish music and old classic movies.
The family wishes to thank the staff on the second floor at Elizabeth Church Manor for their kindness and the excellent care they provided Mary during her stay there.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, 1263 Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Monday at 1 p.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Monday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in memory of Mary be made to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in care of Saints John and Andrew Church, 7 Livingston Street, Binghamton, NY 13903.
