Mary Lee Weihe, affectionately known to many as Dee Dee, passed away on July 9, 2024, in Greenville, South Carolina. Born on May 5, 1933, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Mary Lee was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Max Joseph and Priscilla Domansky, her husband, John C. Weihe, and her cherished sons, John, Richard (Rick) Weihe, and Michael (Mike) Weihe.

Mary Lee's journey through life was marked by her unwavering spirit and the courage with which she faced every challenge. A 1950 graduate of Blythe Township High School, she went on to earn her nursing degree and dedicated over 40 years of her life to caring for others as a registered nurse at Taber Street Nursing Home in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Her commitment to her profession and the well-being of her patients was evident in the compassionate care she provided.

Throughout her life, Mary Lee's interests and passions brought joy not only to herself but also to those around her. A huge fan of the legendary singer Tom Jones, she had the thrill of attending his concerts, with her last experience being as recent as 2023. Mary Lee's love for life was also reflected in her enjoyment of simple pleasures like indulging in her favorite sweet treats, especially ice cream, and her fondness for the excitement of casinos.

Mary Lee's home in New Bedford, Massachusetts, was a testament to her meticulous nature, always kept immaculate and welcoming. Her playful demeanor and flirtatious spirit were part of her undeniable charm that drew people to her. She was a woman who knew how to enjoy life and make the most of every moment.

One of Mary Lee's greatest joys was her granddaughter, Greta Lee Plexico, whom she spoiled throughout her life. Her love for Greta was boundless, and the special bond they shared was evident in every interaction. Together with Greta's husband, Gregory Plexico, they cherished the precious moments and memories created with their beloved Dee Dee.

Mary Lee loved British murder mysteries. The intrigue and suspense of each storyline provided her with endless entertainment and a delightful escape.

Despite the fullness of her life, Mary Lee's heart never fully healed from the loss of her sons. She carried their memory with her every day, a testament to the depth of a mother's love.

Those who knew Mary Lee would describe her as friendly, courageous, and spirited. She approached life with an open heart and a readiness to embrace all the beauty it had to offer. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her warmth and kindness.

Mary Lee's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the indomitable strength of the human spirit. She lived a life that was rich in experiences and relationships, and she leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will be cherished by her family and friends.

As we bid farewell to Mary Lee Weihe, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the extraordinary life she led. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts. Mary Lee, or Dee Dee, as she was lovingly called, will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
