In Loving Memory of Mary Wilke
It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Wilke, who left us peacefully at the age of 91. She lived a life that was nothing short of extraordinary, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and boundless curiosity.
Born February 27th, 1934, Mary was a trailblazer in every sense. She was the first in our family to graduate from college (Indiana University), an accomplishment that inspired not only her own children but generations to follow. Her academic achievements were a testament to her unwavering dedication and passion for learning.
A devoted Army wife, she stood by her husband through the challenges of military life—weathering long separations and countless uncertainties with grace and strength. Her love for her family was steadfast, and she created a home filled with warmth and stability despite moving 21 times in 24 years in the Army. Her adventurous spirit carried her across the world. From the early years spent in Hawaii, to the bustling streets of Bangkok and the serene beaches of Pattaya, she embraced the beauty and diversity of every place she called home. She brought that same spirit of exploration and compassion into every community she joined, whether in the United States or abroad.
Mom was also the first to give back. Her selflessness shone through her countless hours of volunteering at schools, hospitals, and senior centers. Whether she was providing comfort, doing taxes for the elderly, or teaching young minds, her acts of kindness knew no bounds. Her heart was as vast as the world she explored.
Above all, Mary was a woman whose love transcended all. She taught us the importance of resilience, empathy, and cherishing every precious moment. Her wisdom, strength, and compassion will forever be the guiding light for those who loved her.
Mary is survived by her daughter Cindy Wilke, son and daughter-in-law Bill and Christy Wilke and grandchildren Tayler and Tom Wilke. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Wilke.
A memorial service will be held on 9/25/25 at 11:00 am at the Sunset Funeral Homes- East at 750 N. Carolina where we will honor her remarkable life.
