Mary K. Wise

Mary Katherine Wise, age 93, of Basehor, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, December 13th, 2025, at her home. At her request, no service will be held, at this time. Her family and friends will gather at a later date.

She was born on September 20, 1932, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Joseph and Mary (Lukanic) Wranich. Mary showed her love in the way she cared for others, especially through food. If you walk through her door, you were going to eat, no matter what. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, full plates, and no one ever left hungry. She had a gift for bringing people together, whether around the table or in a friendly card game. She was always ready with a deck of cards and a smile. Mary's life was rooted in family, generosity, and simple joys. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her love, traditions, and memories will live on in every shared meal and every hand of cards played in her honor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur "Red" Wise, her brothers, Joseph, Jr., and Jim, and her sisters, Ann and Mildred.

Survivors include her Children: Mary Baker (Pete), Patty Wise, Viv Marah, David Wise (Angie), Douglas Wise (Heather), eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one sister Rose McMillan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many, many friends.
