Mary Zissler (Bice), a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, in her hometown of Dallas, Oregon. She was born on July 5, 1953, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Mary was the cherished daughter of Rosalee and Hollis Bice and grew up in the warmth of a loving household. After graduating from Central High School, she dedicated herself to her family, taking on the roles of mom, wife, and daughter, all while contributing as a farm helper. Her life was a testament to hard work and selflessness, and her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family.
In 1973, Mary married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Zissler, in a heartfelt ceremony held at his parents café in Salem, Oregon. Their love story, marked by joy and partnership, blossomed for 25 beautiful years until Wayne's passing. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter, where their two children, Drew Zissler and Karen Larson-Zissler, grew up surrounded by the warmth of their parents love.
Mary's legacy lives on through her children, Drew (Robyn) Zissler of Salem and Karen (Johnny) Larson-Zissler of Salem, as well as her adored grandchildren, Dustin, Taylor, and Daevi. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Parker, who brought immense joy to her later years. Mary's home was always open, welcoming those in need of a caring family and a roof over their heads. Her signature laugh could be heard from a mile away, a sound that brought comfort and happiness to all who knew her.
Camping trips, adventures at the sand dunes, and countless projects with Wayne were just a few of the cherished memories she created with her family. Mary treasured the time spent with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared countless special moments and laughter.
Mary was not only a devoted family member but also a person who embodied kindness and generosity. Her caring nature and welcoming spirit made her a beloved figure in her community, and her impact will be felt for generations to come.
Mary's memorial service will be held on April 27, 2025, at Oak Grove Grange, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and the countless memories she created. In honoring her legacy, we encourage everyone to share their stories and remember the love and laughter she brought into our lives.
Mary Zissler (Bice) leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and compassion. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed, but her love will endure forever.
