Maryann Juergensen, age 91, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away at home on June 11th. Born September 10th, 1933, Maryann spent most of her life living in Kansas City excluding a short time living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada as her father was involved with the construction of the Alaskan Highway during World War II. Maryann was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chiefs and Royals. She attended both Super Bowl I and IV, as well as the Royals World Series games in 1980 and 1985.
Maryann was fortunate enough to spend time in two careers involving her passions. As a travel agent and tour operator she was able to satisfy her wanderlust, traveling to destinations all across the world, including her personal favorite of Switzerland. Maryann's passions grew even stronger in her love for needlepoint. An exceptionally talented stitcher, she created award winning pieces. Maryann owned the only storefront needlepoint shop in Kansas City for nearly a decade, teaching and spreading her love for the art. She was a proud Lifetime Patron of the American Needlepoint Guild and served as the President of the Kansas City Chapter.
Maryann is survived by her two sons, Doug Juergensen (Sherri) and Erik Juergensen (Lisa), and two grandchildren, Sean Juergensen (Stephanie) and Maggie Juergensen (Rachel). Graveside services for close friends and family will be held at Forest Hill Calvary Cemetery on June 18th at 2:30pm.
