Funeral services for Erma Juergensen, age 91, long-time resident of Churdan, IA, will be held at 10:30am Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Farnhamville, IA. Interment will take place at 1:30pm February 26, 2025 at Highland Township Cemetery, Churdan, IA
The family will visit with friends from 4:00pm – 6:00pm Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Farnhamville, IA
Memorials may be directed to the family for use at their discretion.
Obituary of Erma Juergensen
Erma Pauline Juergensen was born May 12, 1933 at home near Columbus, Kansas to Arthur E. F. and F. Pauline (Kubler) Christiansen. Erma passed away February 18, 2025 at the age of 91 in Boone, Iowa.
Erma was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Pittsburg, Kansas. She graduated from Columbus Cherokee County High School (CCCHS) in 1951 and studied music education at Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas.
Erma married Calvin C. Juergensen on November 27, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Pittsburg, Kansas. They settled near Churdan, Iowa and were the parents of four children. Erma worked alongside Calvin in their farming operation for 49 years. They moved into Churdan in 1995 and retired in 2003. Erma was involved in the activities of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Farnhamville, Iowa. She enjoyed serving as church organist and as piano accompanist at Paton-Churdan School when asked.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Calvin, her daughter Paula Jean in infancy, her son Chris, her siblings Thelma (Orman) Wuerdeman, Doris Christiansen, Galen (Martha) Christiansen, her brother-in-law Murle Lassman and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Carl & Betty Juergensen. Left to mourn are her daughter Deb (Rich) Bennett, daughter Dena Dilka, and daughter-in-law Jill (Ray) Hansen; grandchildren Jessica (Derik) See, Cale (Alyssa) Juergensen, Mackenzie (Mitchell) Lewis, Connor (Lindsay) Juergensen, Noah (Mackenzie) Juergensen, Chase (girlfriend Madelyn Soupir) Juergensen, Cody Dilka, and Hannah Dilka; great-grandchildren Bryce Schulte, Brooklynne See, Nora Lewis, Rowen Lewis, Emma Juergensen, Cade Juergensen, Josie Juergensen, and Cal T. Juergensen, and including Rich Bennett's daughters Jessica and Annie and their families. Also surviving is her sister Edna Lassman, other relatives and friends.
