DANVERS – Maryann Lazor Kevin, 71 of Danvers, beloved wife of Paul Kevin, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers Mass on January 27th, 2025 following a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline Lazor. Maryann was born and raised in Pittsfield Mass and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School class of 1971. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree magna cum laude from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and served as the secretary of the Delta Sigma Pi honor society.
She loved Flagstaff and all the area had to offer, especially hiking through the Grand Canyon. Very much a non-traditionalist, she worked a variety of jobs from ski tow operator to bar manager and trained and worked as a welder. After graduation she accepted a job as a dispatcher with the Flagstaff Police Dept. This quickly led to an appointment as the first female police officer on the force. After a number of years, she decided to move back east to help care for her mother. Maryann then began her career with New England Telephone as a manager in Worcester. She quickly rose through the ranks and retired as a director in regulatory affairs for Verizon in Boston. It was there where she met the love of her life Paul. They shared 35 wonderful years together not only as husband and wife but as best friends.
Maryann was a vibrant woman who loved her family and friends. She loved to travel and toured throughout most of Europe, India and Egypt. The consummate host, she will always be remembered for the parties she hosted for family and friends, especially the fourth of July fireworks parties at her Danversport home which had the perfect view of Danvers fireworks spectacular.
Surviving Maryann is her devoted husband Paul of Danvers, loving stepchildren Tara Kevin of Beverly and Mathew Kevin of Rowley, grandchildren Conor Kevin and Bryce Kevin of Rowley and special friend, Karen Castleman of Hamilton.
