SYTEK, MaryAnn – of Burton, age 86, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 1, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6340 Roberta Street, Burton, MI 48509; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Dominic Cemetery in Metz, MI. The family will receive visitors from 1 – 6 PM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM Wednesday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church.
MaryAnn was a beautiful light in this world. She was born in Posen, MI on December 3, 1937, daughter of the late Walter and Agnes (Pilarski) Nowicki. She married John Julian Sytek on August 4, 1956, who preceded her in death on September 22, 1975. MaryAnn was incredibly sweet, patient, kind, positive and strong. When life gave her adversity, she rose to the challenge, raising her six children on her own after her husband's death and living life with stage four ovarian cancer with grace and dignity for over five bonus years. She volunteered with McLaren Hospice, gave generously to various charitable organizations, and was always helping people in the community. She loved her two canine companions Knaughty and Pampers and was a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers. She reminded us that we should learn how to catch a curve ball, for one never knows what life will throw at you.
MaryAnn's greatest joy was her family to whom she was known as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her six grandchildren were her pride and joy and she dedicated her time in finding ways to spend time with them. Christmas was her favorite time with her family. Her home was filled with flowers from her garden, angels and pictures of her family. She had very special neighbors that became family and she opened her home to those she held dear to her heart. She will be sorely missed and leaves us with a legacy of loving one another in spite of our differences.
MaryAnn retired from Buick City. She could fix anything and was recognized by GM for her suggestions for improvement.
MaryAnn is survived by her six children, Denice (Terry) Wagner, Debbie (Randy) Hergenreder, Mark (Victoria) Sytek, Mathew Sytek, Deanna (Paul) Snyder, Diann (Keith) Denny, Her six precious grandchildren, John L. Sytek, Ty Hergenreder, Avery Snyder, Re'gan Snyder, Jack Denny and Brooke Denny; siblings, Geraldine Orban, and Alphonse (Margie) Nowicki; sisters-in-law, Virginia Nowicki, Darlene Nowicki and Elfreda Nowicki. In addition to her parents and husband, MaryAnn was proceeded in death by her siblings, Philip (Josephine) Nowicki, Daniel (Marion) Nowicki, Andrew (Veronica) Nowicki, Louis (Shirley Ann) Nowicki, Aloysius Nowicki, Gereon (Viola) Nowicki, Walter Nowicki, Stella (Thomas) Finch, Baby Agnes Nowicki, Chester Nowicki, Alice Sytek and Florian Nowicki.

Many times my husband and I ran into MaryAnn at Meijer on Center Rd. We'd chat for a few minutes and she'd always ask how my Mom & Dad (Ralph & Lorry Hawks) were doing & to be sure to give them her love. Such a beautiful person - treasure your memories of her.
