SYTEK, Philip "Butch" – of Davison, MI, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at McLaren-Flint. Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries in honor of Butch.
Butch was born in Rogers City, Michigan, on April 18, 1946, to Leland and Helen (Burlea) Sytek. On July 29, 1969, he married the love of his life, Jan Wagner, in Davison, Michigan. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Butch served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later dedicated 39 years of hard work to General Motors before enjoying a well-earned retirement. Known as a master fixer, Butch could repair just about anything and everything. A happy-go-lucky man, Butch had a knack for spreading cheer wherever he went. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, like riding his bike, taking the boat out on the water, and spending time in the great outdoors. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless smiles to his life. Butch and his wife had a passion for antiques, both collecting and selling them. He was also known for his love of golf-although his enthusiasm waned a bit when the wins started slipping away! Tuesday breakfasts with his close-knit group of friends were another highlight of his week. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and the countless people whose lives he brightened with his cheerful spirit and kind heart.
Butch is survived by his wife, Jan Sytek; brother, George (Nancy) Sytek; children: Josh (Lisa) Sytek and David (Wendy) Sytek; grandchildren: Allison (Brandon) Elliott, Andrew Sytek and Salena Sytek; great grandchildren: Vivian and Leland Elliott; nieces: Kelly Haskill and Melissa Sytek; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Helen Sytek.

Philip and I served together in Viet Nam in 1966 to 1967 and became great friends, We went up to his parents home after coming home from VN in Metz Mi had a great time. and met brother George(a real character) and Nancy and his parents. He was my best man when I married 1969 in Clawson Mi. I would occasionally drive up to his home in Davison MI. I was shocked when I got the news of his passing and didn't get this message until the 20th and will miss him dearly! May God be with you my friend!

Jan and family, sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories of Butch and your family. Butch, teaching me how to play euchre, neighbor hood texas holdem tournaments, playing penny poker, he was fine card player. I'll always remember when Butch, Josh my brother Andy, at the time my girl friend Sue (now my wife) were golfing, when the ground keeper came up on us and asked " are you Ramiro, the air force recruiter called your mom, your shipping out tomorrow morning " two weeks early. Butch assured me, this is a good thing, He was right. Again, we're so sorry for your loss. We definitely lost one of the good guys!
Rest in peace Butch.

Dear Jan and family, I am so sorry, and so shocked by Butch's passing. I have known you both for so many decades, and had so much fun with you both in the Antique world, and elsewhere. Everyone loved and enjoyed Butch and his great sense of humor, and intelligent conversations. This is a huge loss to all your family, and friends as well. You have my deepest sympathy, and condolences. He will be missed by so many, and I will miss him greatly. Hugs and Love to you and yours.
