Marylin Ferrey, 64, passed away on November 4th, surrounded by her family. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Marylin was born in Pinar del Río, Cuba, on November 27th, 1960. In 1966, through the courage and perseverance of her parents, Jose and Maria Puertas, the family immigrated to the United States, where her sister, Madeline, was born. Marylin was raised in Los Angeles, California as a proud Cuban American and devout Catholic - values that guided her throughout her life.
She married the love of her life, Antonio Ferrey, on December 26, 1981, and they built their life together in Orange County. Marylin and Antonio raised two children, Antoney and Dominic Ferrey. She instilled in them the importance of faith, family, culture, loyalty and empathy. While raising two young children, Marylin earned a master’s degree in child development and dedicated nearly twenty years to teaching elementary school children. She always dreamed of having a daughter, and she was later blessed with two daughters-in-law and four cherished granddaughters.
Marylin loved the adventure of travel. She visited numerous countries throughout her life, touching five of the seven continents. She was particularly drawn to the beauty, culture, and romance of Madrid and Paris. She passed on the same love of travel and exploration to her children. Marylin was well known for her creativity and had a passion for planning celebrations for her family and friends. She was a talented baker and crafter, and created exquisite desserts, quilts, dresses, dolls and decorations that reflected her love of beauty and eye for style.
Marylin will be remembered by her selfless dedication to her family and the boundless love with which she lived her life. May she rest in eternal peace in Heaven.
A vigil will be held on November 18th from 5-9PM at Saddleback Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at La Purisima Catholic Church on November 19th at 11:30 A.M., followed by Rite of Committal at Ascension Cemetery.
