Matthew Michael Alves, 56, of Milford, passed away on April 1st at Milford Hospital with his parents and brothers by his side. He was an amazingly strong, tough and brave man in his fight with cancer. Matt is survived by his parents, Judy (Testa) and Dennis Mackie of Franklin; his father, Michael Alves and his wife, Ann, of Davidson, NC; along with his twin brother Jason Alves of Burlington, VT and his younger brothers, Adam Alves of Norwood and Zachary Corrigan and his wife, Moira, of Brookline. He also leaves his nephew, Angelo, and his five nieces: Alexandra, Samantha, Julia, Phoebe and Maisie.
Matt was the loving grandson of the late Angelo (Windy) and Eleanor Testa of Hopedale and the late Antonio and Delfina (Mamie) Alves of Milford. Matthew was a 1986 graduate of Westwood High School and attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he was a beloved fraternity brother at Phi Sigma Kappa. He graduated from Clark University's Computer Web Design program and was employed by Content Integrity as a web designer and worked in various construction companies.
Matty was a kind and loving son, brother, uncle and a generous friend. He had a fantastic sense of humor, a sharp wit and a remarkable gift for making others smile. His strength and resilience over the past few years were an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved him.
Visiting hours are Saturday, April 12, from 1 to 3 PM followed by a funeral home service at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water Street in Milford. A gathering to celebrate Matthew's life will follow at the Marchegiano Club, 60 Meade Street, Milford
