Matthew "Matt" Scott Baker, 60, affectionately known as "Stumpy" of Lakeport, passed away unexpectedly after a short battle with cancer on Sunday, September 28, 2025 with his family by his side.
He was born on July 30, 1965 in Detroit, Michigan, the cherished son of Donald and Karen Baker.
Matt married the love of his life, Monica Lynn Petty on July 14, 2007, and they enjoyed 18 years of marriage and 22 years together.
He was a long-time employee at Cintas Corporation.
When he wasn't working, Matt loved playing golf and rooting for the Detroit Tigers and Lions. He also loved to watch Westerns. Matt was so meticulous about his cars, he took care of them like family. Most of all, Matt was a family man, he adored his children and grandchlidren.
Matt is lovingly remembered by his wife, Monica; his children, Kateland, Nina, and Chad; his many grandchildren; his mother, Karen Baker; his brother Don (Debbie) Baker; many nieces and nephews, along with many brother and sister-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Baker; his grandparents, Clellan and Evoline Baker, and Fred and Norma Gierman; his grandson, Hunter Sanders; and his in-laws, Larry and Pat Sandoval.
A celebration of Matt's life will be held at later date.
