Matthew Keith Bishop, known simply as “Matt” to most and “Matt Matt” to the kids who adored him, passed away unexpectedly on June 19th 2025 at the age of 38. The world feels quieter without him—but the legacy he leaves behind echoes loudly in the lives he touched.
Born on January 19, 1987, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Matt was the beloved son of Diane Bowlds and Donald Bishop. He is survived by his wife, Angelica Bishop, and Daughters Destynee (Brandon), Hanna. His mother Diane (Jeff). His brothers Joseph and Michael (Melissa), and his sister, Ruby (Joe) and many nieces and nephews.
Matt spent 18 years building a strong and steady career at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA), where he worked as a respected team leader. It was there he met Angelica, the love of his life, with whom he shared 15 beautiful years of marriage.
With Angel came the joy of fatherhood. Matt wholeheartedly embraced the role, raising her daughters, Destynee and Hanna, as his own. He also became a father figure to many of their friends, offering presence, wisdom, and unwavering support to anyone who needed it. He was the guy who fixed what was broken—be it cars, kitchen cabinets, or weary hearts—and never asked for anything in return.
Matt enjoyed the peace and beauty of the outdoors, camping, the excitement of four-wheeler trails, and gazing at stars that appeared above the camp fire. Camping, hiking, canoeing—these were sacred pastimes. At home, he was the heart of the gathering, leading with quiet strength, throwing bags in a game of cornhole, and always ready to lend a hand.
Matt will be remembered for his steady spirit, generous hands, humor, and fierce devotion to those he loved. His was a love you didn’t have to earn—it was simply there, solid as the earth beneath his slides. He will be fiercely missed by everyone who had the gift of knowing him.
Viewing will be held this Sunday, June 29th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a celebration of life to follow immediately after at:
