Matthew Justin Harper

Matthew Justin Harper, age 48, passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2025, at Parkwest Medical Center.
Matt loved to laugh, and he had a great laugh to match! The best ways to make him laugh were the quirky, unexpected things in life like watching a seagull take his cheeseburger, playing with the puppies, and cutting up with Karol and Luke.There was never a doubt that they were the center of his world. He taught himself how to speak Japanese, but his first language was sarcasm. He was a master at listing details and fun facts about most movies. There wasn't a sweet that Matt didn't like - have a two-bite brownie or peanut butter M&M's for him.
Matt was a graduate from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (Go Vols!) with his undergraduate and master's degree (Statistics).
He is survived by the love of his life, Karol. They have been married for twenty years and together for twenty-four. His greatest joy in life is their son Luke. His family includes his mother Carol Harper of Smithville, TN; sister Angie McKay (Cory); uncles and aunts; nieces and nephews; extended family members; and countless lifelong friends all of whom will miss him terribly. He is preceded in death by his father, George Harper.
The Celebration of Matt's Life with family and friends from 1-2:30pm is on Saturday, July 19 at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with a short service to follow at 2:30pm.
All are encouraged to wear Tennessee Volunteers, Miami Dolphins, Orlando Magic, Minnesota Twins, and Nashville Predators attire. Just don't show up in Alabama or Florida.
