Matthew William Hauser
September 28, 1984 - June 3, 2025
Matthew William Hauser, age 40, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in an accident at his home.
Matt was born in Overland Park, Kansas. He was named after his two grandpas that loved him dearly, Edward Matthew Hauser and William (Bill) Wilhoit. Matt lived in the Overland Park area and the Dallas area until moving to the Lake of the Ozarks with his family nearly a decade ago. He fell in love in high school, and he and Laurie were later married. It was such a joyous time as they welcomed his two sons, Blake and Barrett, into the world. He also loved and helped to raise his stepson, James. His love for his boys never stopped.
Matt excelled at fixing things. His aptitude and talent for building, rebuilding, and repairing items went beyond the average brain. Thinking outside the box to find the best jury-rig solution when needed. Most of his jobs involved fixing or upgrading cars and boats. He wanted to have his own business and had numerous ideas and plans for that dream.
Matt had a huge heart and loved so deeply. Although we are heartbroken for our loss, we hope he knew how many of us loved him so very much. He is at peace now. We must find peace, as well. Just gone too soon. He will be greatly missed by many.
Matt is survived by his father and biggest ally, Mark Hauser. Sons, Blake and Barrett Hauser (Laurie and stepson James). Sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Jared McClure. Niece and nephew, Mackenzy and Randy McClure. Grandmother, Alice Wilhoit. Aunt DD, D'Ann Hauser. Aunts and uncles, Debra Linker, Bruce Linker, Mary Maiden, Betsy Perkins, Rick Wilhoit, and Doug Slattery. Lots and lots of cousins. And special friend, Ashley Banks (Jaxon and Gavyn).
Reunited with Matt in heaven was his mother, Brenda Hauser. Grandparents, Ed and Bev Hauser (Billie), and Bill Wilhoit. Great-grandma, Rosie Phillips. Aunts, Anna LeDuc-Slattery and Susan Wilhoit. And cousin, Melissa Maiden.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home Laurie and Sunrise Beach Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The following song was written by AI, based on the phrase 'You can't get higher than heaven' by Jessica, with additions and slight revisions by D'Ann.
Higher than Heaven
---------------------------
You were chasing light in a world so dark
Tried to heal a hurt with a heavy heart
Every high just led you low
But you still had that kind soul
You laughed like fire, loved so deep
Carried secrets you couldn't keep
We watched you fight, we watched you fall
But you were still so very loved through it all
You'd get back up and start anew
With hope and determination to get through
To a happier place without the chaos and loss
Trying so very hard to get the big payoff
Now you're flying free, you're finally whole
No more pain, no more toll
And though we miss the guy you were back then
We know you found your peace in the end
'Cause you can't get higher than heaven
No, you can't get higher than heaven
Your story's etched in all our days
In every tear, on every face
Wish we had one more try
To say goodbye with clearer eyes
But maybe now you're lookin' down
Smilin' at this hometown
Saying, "Don't you cry for me -
I'm finally where I'm meant to be "
Though we are heartbroken with endless tears
Time will help and you'll always be near
In our hearts we will love you forever
You were a genius fixer and so very clever
You're flying free, you're finally whole
No more pain, no more toll
And though we miss the guy you were back then
We know you found your peace in the end
'Cause you can't get higher than heaven
No, you can't get higher than heaven
So light a fire, sing me home
To the place where angels roam
You fought your fight, now rest above -
Forever at peace, wrapped in love
You can't get higher than heaven
