Matthew was born in New York City, New York where he lived until joining the United States Navy where he retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Matthew and his family settled in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1983 and have remained since.
Matthew is survived by his wife of forty-one years Kathy, his two sons Matthew Jr. and Joshua, and his sister and three brothers Brooke, David, Seth, and Daniel.
The family would like to invite you to a Celebration of Life Service. The service will take place at H.D. Oliver Funeral Home at 2002 Laskin Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23454. on Saturday, August 17th at 11:00 a.m.
Matthew was a charismatic, hardworking, and kind man. To know his kindness was to have a light shine on you with genuine interest and compassion.
We would like to request any condolences in the form of donations be sent to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation – The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is the largest nonprofit in the world solely focused on accelerating a cure for each and every multiple myeloma patient.
