Matthew William Kelly, 42 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born in Edina to his parents Christopher and Jane Kelly and is survived by them. He is also survived by his two sons, Connor and Noah and his daughter Willow and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly as well as his three siblings; Mike, Christopher (Bud) and Angela (Nick).
It is with the most intense sadness that we must announce the death of Matt. Matt has touched so many lives over the years whether it was with his uncanny and sometimes completely inappropriate wit or the love that you got to see if you were close enough to him and could break through his hard-shell understanding that he was full of crap.
Matt absolutely loved fishing with the kids up at Mille Lacs and sharing his love of duck hunting with them. Connor has always been a natural follower of Matt's love for duck hunting, and they spent many hours together on trips out west and more recently it gave Matt the utmost pleasure when Noah finally decided to join them in their love for duck hunting. Matt was so proud of Noah for finally getting into this sport that had brought Matt and Connor together so closely throughout the years. The other thing that Matt absolutely loved was snuggling with his baby girl Willow or his little pumpkin even referring to her as his little lemon, lovingly.
During his school years, Matt was proud of his wrestling accomplishments. Later in life, Matt worked as an architectural Sheet Metal Installer and was very good at his job.
There is no one who will be able to take the place of Matt in our lives and we are left with the deepest sadness imaginable. Prayers for the family are appreciated as we learn to navigate our lives without Matt and try to move forward. His children are too young to lose a parent, and his parents should not have to bury their child. We love you so very much Matt and know that you are now in a better place free from the pain you were in.
A memorial service will take place at Grandstrand Funeral Home (6580 Main St.) in North Branch at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 with a visitation held one hour prior to the service. Immediately after the service a luncheon will be held at the American Legion in North Branch (6439 Elm St) in North Branch where all are welcome.
