Obituary
Matthew Wayne Lathrom was born February 8th of 1976 in Wichita, Kansas. He departed this world June 15th, 2023. He is survived by wife Amber and stepdaughters Angela and Augusta as well as his parents David and Cynthia Lathrom, sister Michelle and husband Greg Knight, nieces AnnMarie and Samantha. He was predeceased by his loving, proud grandparents Bess and Earl Lathrom and Wanda and Fred Pride.
Matt grew up in Mulvane, Kansas where he was active in football, fishing, swimming, hunting, baseball, wrestling, and mooning the band teacher. After high school graduation he went to work for the City of Mulvane where he worked for the park department planting trees, mowing, putting up Christmas lights and planting more trees! He then followed in his Grandpa Fred's path and went to work for Boeing. Aircraft became a source for travel and adventure as contracting took him all over the country. Like both his granddads, Matt never met a stranger and was friends with everyone he met. New Mexico to Virginia, California to Florida, Air Force One, helicopters and even Taylor Swift's plane, Matt worked with friends, rode his Harley, and cooked a ton of great food. Whether catching salmon in Alaska, crappies in a Kansas lake, or red snapper in the gulf, fishing was always a fun time.
Matt was larger than life and leaves an unfathomable void for those who love him.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home.
