Matthew D. McCool

Matthew D. McCool, born on December 11, 1972, in lively Albany, NY, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 52 on February 10, 2025. He spent his final years nestled in the serene town of Coxsackie, NY.
Matt was a man who wore his heart on his sleeve and kept a fishing rod in hand. His greatest joys were his three wonderful children and cheering from the edge of his seat for the Buffalo Bills-his dedication to them rivaled even the most loyal fans. Anyone who knew Matt knows he had a humor as raw and ready as his tackle box-every joke speckled with a warmth that could reel in anyone.
Though he was predeceased by his loving parents, Patricia and Donald J. McCool, his legacy is carried on by his sisters Sarah McCool, Shannon Bogardus, and brother in law Leonard Bogardus, along with His children-Collin, Matthew, and Reagan-each of them his greatest catch, Neices and nephews Dan rose, Morgan Borgardus, Alissa Hallenbeck, Josie, jeslyne, and Joey Lomio to carry forward his indomitable spirit.
Those wishing to pay their respects are welcome to gather at Babcock Funeral Home where tales of Matt's adventures, his laughter-filled stories about the one that got away, and cheers for the next Bills game will surely make their rounds. We will celebrate not just a life lived but Matt's gift for lighting up the dreariest of days with his humor, his love, and the twinkle of mischief that he always seemed to have in his eye.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Babcock Funeral Home, 19 Pulver Avenue, Ravena. All other services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
