Matthew Eric Miller

Matthew E. "Hobie Cat" Miller, 51, passed away at his home on 20 July 2025, in Wadsworth, Ohio. Matt was born in Barberton, Ohio on 7 March 1974.
Matt was a graduate of Wadsworth High School in the year 1993. During his high school years Matt devoted much of his time to the band program as a percussionist. Shortly after, he earned an Associate's Degree in Forest Management from Hocking College. Returning home Matt joined the Wadsworth Community Band where he met and formed lifelong friends while pursuing his love of music. On occasion you could catch him on the links playing a few rounds of golf with his uncle Boofo, where silliness undoubtedly ensued. For those who were fortunate to know Matt, knew that a good joke or a funny story was never far away. He also made appearances at Spunkmeyer's Pub, Applebee's, and the Galaxy to enjoy time with the many friends he made over the years. Matt traveled Ohio to attend various concerts of bands that influenced his life. Closer to home he formed deep bonds with his co-workers and neighbors, sharing many challenge and laughs along the way. From his music to his smile and personality, Matt positively touched all who met him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Miller, grandparents Frank and Lucille Miller, Burt and Doris Marks, as well as Uncles David Bruce "Boofo" Miller and Richard "Dick" Miller.
Matt is survived by his mother, Susan Miller, brother Steve Miller (Robin Masters), nieces Alaina (Keith) O'Connell, Kelsey Miller, Katyana Miller, and Lauren Miller, along with great-nephew, Cole O'Connell and many cousins.
His memory will forever remain in the hearts of family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Calling hours will be 5-8pm Thursday, July 24 at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 North Lyman Street Wadsworth, Ohio followed by a funeral service at 8:00pm
